Prairie Village was built in the 1940’s from a vision of Kansas City developer J.C. Nichols. He wanted to turn farmland into suburban housing for soldiers returning home from the war. Prairie Village expanded from a small bedroom community into one of the top communities of the Kansas City area.
Prairie Village is called “Perfect Village” by some, because it looks like the perfect American town. The Village is walkable with Cape Cod and Ranch style homes, lots of families and a strong sense of community. A 2018 survey showed that Prairie Village was seen one of the most appealing places to live for millennials.
